About Us
Champion Trace Golf Club was designed by world renowned golf course architect Arthur Hills (featured right) and built by Tom Heilbron, a former president and current member, in 1987; Champion Trace is member owned and guided by the Board of Directors. Although Arthur Hills has left his mark on many areas throughout the country, he put a special touch on
Champion Trace in the late 80s. Since its inception, Champion Trace has been rated as one of the best courses in the state of Kentucky and in previous years Golfweek rated it as high as #1.
Champion Trace has obtained state, regional and national prominence as a world-class golf course by hosting the 1993 NCAA Men's Golf Championship and the 1994 USGA Senior Amateur Championship. Other championships that have been hosted at Champion Trace include: the 1999 SEC Championship, the 1992 NCAA Collegiate Preview, the 1990 Women's Western Amateur and multiple Kentucky Opens and Kentucky Amateur Championships.
Our club philosophy is to provide the highest standard of golf while maintaining excellent service to all members and guests. We are an Audubon Sanctioned facility and know that we must play our part by attempting to leave the smallest carbon footprint possible. Through these principles, Champion Trace stands out as a special place in the community.
