About Us

Champion Trace Golf Club was designed by world renowned golf course architect Arthur Hills (featured right) and built by Tom Heilbron, a former president and current member, in 1987; Champion Trace is member owned and guided by the Board of Directors. Although Arthur Hills has left his mark on many areas throughout the country, he put a special touch on Champion Trace in the late 80s. Since its inception, Champion Trace has been rated as one of the best courses in the state of Kentucky and in previous years Golfweek rated it as high as #1.  

Champion Trace has obtained state, regional and national prominence as a world-class golf course by hosting the NCAA Men's Golf Championship and the USGA Senior Amateur Championship. Other championships that have been hosted at Champion Trace include: the Men's & Women's SEC Championships, the NCAA Collegiate Preview, the Women's Western Amateur, multiple Kentucky Opens, and the Kentucky Amateur Championship.
